There was at least one other period where Canada was wary of our southern neighbor's motives. I was a bit young, but with the oil embargo of the 70's there was a concern over take over. It was a time of The Guess Who's "American Woman" and Richard Rohmer's "Exxoneration".
Aye. There were boos of the American anthem back then, too. Canada doesn't bite back often, and we're not quick to anger, but when we get backed into a corner our people don't take it lying down.
I wrote this back in December and decided to share it again today because things are escalating and I figured we could all use a little reminder of who we are.
We appreciate the support! My partner is American as well, and he's all in on supporting Canada through this. I can't boycott the States entirely because of him and his family- I still plan to visit once, possibly twice this year- but I'm limiting my spending as much as I possibly can.
Many of our American friends are choosing to buy Canadian and non-American as well, in solidarity, and so many of them have reached out to me to express their shame. We're grateful to those of you who have our backs through this.

Go Canada, many of us in this nightmare stand with you. Trump speaks for a very small contingent of nutcases.

Their nastiness will creep across the border if we don't stop them. If the America people cannot fix this, so be it. "We are all in this together."
