Concentrate on staying alive up there. Forget the Americans, until they try to cross your southern border illegally. Which they will when it all collapses in the U.S. in a year or so. I hope all of you Canadians have got your ducks in a row by then as I would hate to see you go down with the Americans when they go. Hopefully, your new PM, whomever it turns out to be, will steer Canada away from the U.S. and towards better trading partners very soon. Anyone, anywhere has to be better trading partners than the U.S. right now.
As for yourself, I would not take any chances in some stupid American ruining your wedding day. Even if they are soon to be in-laws. If they can't behave, they can stay home. Just my two cents worth.
I don't expect a battle or anything like that; a couple of them might get loud about their Trump support after a little too much wine, but the rest of the family usually shuts them down before anything gets out of hand.
Besides, nothing is ruining my wedding day. On that day, it's not our problem- my partner and I are washing our hands of drama and letting somebody else handle it!
Hang in there, Sam - you are not alone in feeling this way. I’m sure you will have a beautiful wedding regardless of whose side of the border the guests are from. Stay proud of Canada and how we are responding to all this. Let no one - especially Trump - take away your joy. Canada strong and free!! 🇨🇦🍁
As a tired Canadian mom, this is incredibly relatable. I’m anxious and angry and it’s hard to be poetic and well-informed while still trying to make a living. I take solace in the solidarity that us Canadians have shown, though.
I don’t blame you. I’m trying to stay away from it as much as I can and am still exhausted. He’s an eternal embarrassment and has never spoken for me, not to mention that he may have cheated to win the election. The Democrats are doing what they can, but the Republican “leaders” are bending over and supporting domestic terrorism (and, IMHO, becoming domestic terrorists themselves) and it’s absolutely sickening.
I didn’t watch the State of the Union, just saw clips on Coach D (a YouTuber) and Stephen Colbert. Even that was too much. I, a woke leftist in the deep blue SF Bay Area in blue California, looks forward to the day when I don’t have to see his repulsive face and his constant lies aren’t thrown in my face every single day.

I'm sorry; however tired I am, the people living in the States directly under his control must be far worse off.
Nothing to be sorry for. He’s a virus that has infected the whole world—a global pandemic.
I wish it was as easy as masking up and social distancing to stop this one from spreading. Ugh.
🤣 No kidding!
